How Does a Maintenance Schedule Work?

Understanding your maintenance schedule is easy! All it is, is a collection of services that will be needed at certain mileage intervals. Typically, maintenance schedules use mileage intervals as a metric because everyone has a different driving style and commute, making it a more effective way to determine what services are needed.

When you take a look at the Mazda CX-3 maintenance schedule, you’ll see that it’s divided into two different schedules—Schedule 1 and Schedule 2. Schedule 1 is for drivers who have a normal commute and don’t often drive on severe road conditions or different types of terrain. Service is required every 7,500 miles.

On the other hand, Schedule 2 is for drivers who drive on severe road conditions more often. Service is required every 5,000 miles, but there are no differences between the services needed between the two schedules. For the purpose of this maintenance schedule overview, we’ll focus on Schedule 1.

• 7,500 miles: At every service visit, an oil change and oil filter replacement will be required. At this time, we’ll also inspect your vehicle’s disc brakes and rotate the tires.
• 15,000 miles: All services at the 7,500-mile mark will be performed. At this service visit, we’ll preform inspections of the fuel lines and hoses; brake lines, hoses, and connections; front and rear suspension components; and driveshaft dust boots. Nuts and bolts on the chassis and body will be tightened, and we’ll replace your cabin air filter.
• 30,000 miles: This may seem like a big jump, but the only difference with this service visit is that hoses and tubes for emissions will be inspected.
• 75,000 miles: All the above services will be performed. Additionally, you’ll need to have your spark plugs replaced. You’ll need to replace them at the 150,000-mile mark as well.
• 120,000 miles: The last major service that will be performed is the replacement of your vehicle’s engine coolant. After this visit, your coolant will need to be replaced every 60,000 miles.
