You may notice a big difference in the way the 2021 Subaru Crosstrek performs since it only generates 152 horsepower and 145 lb-ft of torque from its baseline motor. It does offer a more robust powertrain with 182 horsepower and 176 lb-ft of torque. However it still falls short of the standard power offered in the Mazda CX-30.

Additionally, the Mazda model also has an available engine. This turbocharged motor is built to thrill with a dynamic blend of 250 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque, leaving the competition in its dust.

Refined Performance Around Every Turn

The Mazda CX-30 is also outfitted with Skyactiv®-Vehicle Dynamics with G-Vectoring Control Plus. This feature seamlessly distributes vehicle weight and engine power to gently usher you around twists and turns in the road.

This is a Mazda-exclusive feature, though, so you won’t be treated to this type of control on the Crosstrek causing you to notice a difference when it comes to cornering.

This system is also paired to Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™ integration which instantly pairs to your compatible smartphone when you plug it into the USB port. Choose from your road trip playlist or a new podcast—the entertainment possibilities are endless.

The Subaru Crosstrek is also standardly equipped with smartphone integration, but the base screen is much smaller at only 6.5 inches so you may have a harder time viewing it while you explore the road.

The Crosstrek does allow you to upgrade to an 8-inch system, but it’s only available on the highest trim levels and still doesn’t measure up to the baseline system in the Mazda CX-30.

No matter what you decide you listen to, the Mazda CX-30 ensures it sounds crystal clear with a standard 8-speaker audio system with Mazda Harmonic Acoustics. Since the Crosstrek only has four speaks on the base trim, you may not be able to hear your audiobook as well.

Eight speakers are available on the Crosstrek when you opt for the Harman Kardon® speaker system on the highest trim levels. If you’re thinking of a higher trim level though, you may prefer the Mazda CX-30, since it offers a 12-speaker Bose® premium audio system with Centerpoint® 2 and AudioPilot® to further enhance the quality of your tunes.

The 2021 Subaru Crosstrek offers comparable features, but they aren’t available on the baseline model, so you’ll have to upgrade to a higher trim level to make use of them.

To lend a hand with parking your vehicle, the Mazda CX-30 and Subaru Crosstrek can be armed with Rear Cross Traffic Alert. When reversing out of a parking space, this system will let you know when another vehicle is approaching, so you can be on your way with ease.

However, you may find the actual act of parking to be easier in the Mazda CX-30 thanks to a 360˚ View Monitor. This available system uses cameras placed all around the exterior of your SUV to provide you with a comprehensive view of your surroundings.

The Crosstrek, on the other hand, does offer a Rear-Vision Camera but it only shows you what’s directly behind your ride, so you may miss out on side obstacles.
